Numbers 32: Reuben and Gad SETTLE in Gilead

How many times do we stop just before the promise because what is here now looks good enough? The clans of Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh settled in the land just before the crossing of the Jordan River. Isn't it interesting that the word used is "settled". Why did they stop? Because they misunderstood the God they followed. These clans missed the whole promise of God. They received something good, but it was not God's best for them. We need to understand that God's plan and promise are perfect. They may not seem perfect from a worldly perspective, but when you look from an eternal perspective, God has some awesome plans. Don't give up on His plan because the here and now seems "good enough". We settle for something less than what God has for us, and we miss the full blessing of God's promise. What these tribes received wasn't bad - it was a good location, but the point is God wants us to go deeper with Him to the areas of our life, and maybe even difficult physical locations, to see His full blessing of the promise. We can't experience that on the fringe or the "good enough".

Don't give up. Go deeper with Him. The hard work with God is worth it.
